Which GPS unit for hunting?

I'm going to buy the fellow who essentially acts as my guide a GPS unit for his patience and time this Christmas. In this state it is the hunters responsibility to know where the private land boundaries are, and the land owner is not required to post private property signs. I've been doing a little research but I'm not finding the info I need.

I need a good mid priced unit, but more than anything I need to know which if any maps actually show private property boundaries.

Why not just ask him if he knows of a good one? Then tell him what you want to give him for Christmas. I know it takes out the surprise factor but he may be looking at a certain one himself. I have been "surprised" numerous times, only to return the item for one I would rather have. Anyone who gives me anything now, knows this may happen. It doesn't lessen the value of the gift. If you still decide to surprise him, at least give him the receipt so he can get the one he really wants.

When I was looking at a tract of land last year the realtor had a GPS that was programmed with the state's county appraisal district information showing property owners and lines. I didn't note the technical data or brand but it was probably too bulky for hunting anyway. It would have been perfect for scouting beforehand.
In Montana we have a state website that shows all that information anyway, you might check your state. Search "state appraisal district maps". We even have the option of showing property lines on a backdrop of topo lines which in this terrain makes it easy to find things.
Happy hunting!

There are some excellent reviews here. I'm also in the market for this, but haven't researched it yet (no time). Will do so over Christmas holidays.
